As you already know, I bought the Thesis theme and played with it for a few nights. I really like the theme and will consider to buy the developer’s license so I can use it on other blogs as well. However, I noticed that quite a number of bloggers don’t know what is Thesis from my previous poll. And I also received a few emails with questions about Thesis. I hope this post will answer your questions. 
In short, Thesis is a SEO friendly Wordpress premium theme created by Chris Pearson (he designed Copyblogger). For bloggers who don’t understand a lot of PHP, HTML, and CSS, Thesis might be a solution. Thesis will give you a lot of functionality without having to alter any code. Also, you can easily make changes via the Thesis control panel.

Okay, how much does Thesis cost? It’s $87. Let’s make a comparison here.
Look at the themes ($70 each $70 for 2) at WooThemes, no doubt they are all elegant. But ask yourself these questions — “How to change the number of columns and width?”, “Moving the navigation menu?”, or “Font and font size?”. 
Erm….no idea? You’ll find that they are limited and difficult to be customized. This may not be a problem, if you’re very good in coding. Frankly, I’m no designer and so I bought Thesis.
Well, Thesis is not perfect anyway. But I’d say it is so far the best wordpress theme, and look forward to see more exciting features. This is an honest review from me (a real user). Let me know if you find this review useful, and you can use my affiliate link to get your Thesis.

Jacob I think you’re exactly right – Thesis is awesome and is the best WordPress theme. People may be a little afraid of it or think it’s hard to use because of all the posts telling how to do this or that in Thesis, but the thing is, those are just extras! Thesis has a lot of customizations (such as the number of columns, as you mentioned) that you can do with simple check boxes in the admin panel.

Actually, you are comparing apples to oranges comparing Thesis to WooThemes. Thesis is a framework and while I don’t doubt it is excellent with a lot of great features, you will still need to have some design sensibilities to come up with an elegant solution. WooThemes are already designed by top designers and if you look at their showcase, the customization possibilities of their themes is incredible. Woo gives you a something that you can have up and running in 20 minutes and have a beautiful blog. One should ask oneself, am I a designer? Do I want to spend my time creating a new design or working on content? Also, they are not $70 each. You always get 2 for one and if you get the Developer’s package, you get 3 for 1. So you get 3 gorgeous themes AND you have in essence had a top designer design your site. A little customization and you’ve got a winning site. (and no, I don’t work for Woo – just a happy client.)

Hi Leslie, I bought themes from WooThmes and ThemeForest before. As I mentioned above, the themes are really elegant and well designed by top designers. But they are not easy to be customized, for example, their ad spaces, columns, navigations etc. are fixed. And with Thesis Developer’s license which costs $164, you can use on as many blogs as you want. One more thing, you can redesign your blog anytime if you want to. Anyway, I just make a little comparison in this post, no any bad intention. To make it clear, I’m a Thesis happy client too, and I recommend Thesis simply because I love it.

It’s great to see your enthusiasm for the theme you have chosen. I haven’t used Thesis yet, but I carefully researched it and talked to people about it and it sounds like it is really great if you want a flexible framework. However it’s equally valid to want something that’s good to go right away. Neither is better than the other, just different needs. Also, be sure you have your facts correct about pricing when you write a review.

I just bought Thesis and there are a lot of great new features built right in to the dashboard. I am a big fan of the Revolution themes by Brian Gardner, but Thesis offers the opportunity to do some of the same things through the dashboard without having to go into the code and so I am making the switch for some of my sites. As good as some of the instructions on using Thesis are…I still want more for those of us who really, really don’t want to do anything but click and go. Anyone have resources for how to plan out your site for Thesis? I’d like a little help with figuring out what to put where given the massive capabilities of Thesis.

I have read others review the Thesis theme and all of them sing praises about it. The theme of your blog, as far as aesthetics is concerned, is indeed neat and easy on the eye. Those are two characteristics I look for immediately when I visit a site. Sadly, mine does not meet this criteria at the moment. I have promised myself to give it a facelift but haven’t yet had the time to do it. I also had this goal of looking for the some other theme to replace my blog’s current theme with. Thesis is definitely a candidate.

Finally did the long overdue facelift to my blog. It’s not yet Thesis as I’m still tweaking the existing theme to my liking. Should I not like the final output in a few days, I may seriously think of changing themes.

Thesis is east to customize and I know some users are scared when you mention PHP and CSS. It’s not as hard as others say, but it depends on your knowledge and determination. There are plenty of sites that offer tricks and tips concerning Thesis and the support group is huge, you can always find a way of doing things.

Many of the bloggers I follow all have positive things to say regarding this theme. I think it’s great, easy to use and very nice looking. However I would not buy it as it’s over priced.
I’m a customer of elegant themes and love their work. The price is 19.99 per year and you get unlimited access to all their themes.
I think I enjoy their community and affiliate program as well. Perhaps before you go an buy rights to this theme you look at what they have to offer. Nick is a great guy and does amazing work.

I have been using Thesis from 4 months and I highly recommend this theme to all.
It’s SEO and typography is amazing, more over Customization of Thesis might feel little
tricky at the beginning but once you get kick of it, you will enjoy editing and modifying this theme.

Great review, but isn’t the Theme a bit boring? There is quite a few themes which are easy to handle also without any technical skills.
